VOIP is a network/Internet based telephony protocol. What this means is; A phone system that works over the internet or office/home network.

Why would you want VOIP?The primary reasons is; money savings. No more third party costs for PABX, use asterisk. No more expensive calls, us a VOIP provider.

If your a home user, you can get a simple VOIP/SIP (Sip is the protocol used) phone, setup so that it can connect to the internet, load provider details, and of you go.
